Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup
This is by far my favorite chicken noodle soup. This soup has been the essence of healing when my children were growing up, and now my grandchildren. Every time one of my children were sick this was their request. I hope this soup brings comfort, healing, and a family favorite. May this be your go-to classic to make you feel better.
Ingredients
- 3 Tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup minced Garlic
- 1 cup diced carrots (1-2 large carrots)
- 1 cup diced celery (2-3 stalks)
- 2 clove Bay Leaves
- 2 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon white ground pepper
- 1/2 cup onion
- 4 cups chicken broth (recommend reduced sodium)
- 4 cups Heavy Whipping Cream
- 2 Cups shredded cooked Chicken
- 4 cups frozen egg noodles
INSTRUCTIONS
- In a large pot, melt your butter over medium to high heat. Add in your garlic and whisk for about a minute. Whisk in your flour. Let thicken as you continue to whisk for one minute.
- Then you will add in your heavy whipping cream. Add in your chicken broth. Stir and place in two bay leaves. Let the broth come to a boil.
- Once your broth has reached a boil you will place in your onion, celery, carrots and let those become tender. About 10 minutes.
- Add egg noodles, salt, white pepper. Cook an additional 15 minutes until noodles are tender and soup had thickened. Add in your cooked chicken and you have yourself the perfect healing soup.
- Give it a taste and add more salt and pepper if needed. Ladle your soup into a bowl and enjoy serving yourself or one of your children to help them heal from any sickness.
- To reheat, pour in a pot. Place on medium heat until warm. I recommend adding more chicken broth, as the noodles soak up the chicken broth when stored in the refrigerator.
I hope this soup brings as much comfort to your home as it has my home through the years.
