Sloppy Joe
A true American food in a saucy, and hearty beef Sandwich. This dish is packed with tomato sauce, onion, and ground beef. Fun fact: This sandwich originated in Iowa, which is where I was born by a gentleman named Joe.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 2 Tablespoons garlic herb butter
- 1 cup diced onion’s
- 1 cup diced bell pepper’s
- 2 Tablespoons tomato paste
- 3/4 cup ketchup
- 12 hamburger buns
- Optional Velveeta cheese
- 2/3 cup water
- 2 Tablespoon mustard
- 2 Tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 Tablespoon salt
- 1 Tablespoon white pepper
- 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire
- 2 Tablespoons A1 Sauce
Directions
- In a large Cast Iron skillet, brown your hamburger on medium to high heat. Drain grease and set aside. Add your garlic herb butter. As your butter melts begin adding your onion, bell peppers, and garlic. Give that a quick stir and allow to cook for a few minutes.
- Next, add your tomato paste, and ketchup. Mix well. Add in your water, mustard, brown sugar and a dash of salt, and white pepper.
- Lastly, you will add your Worcestershire, and A1. You will add your ground beef to your sauce. Give a good mix until well combined. Give your buns a good browning and a generous scoop of your sloppy Joe mix and top it off with your favorite toppings. I used melted Velveeta cheese and pickles.
